ASS Dexcel protect 100 mg enteric-coated tablets contain acetylsalicylic acid (ASS for short) as the active ingredient. ASA inhibits the adhesion and clumping of platelets (thrombocytes) and thus reduces the risk of thrombi (blood clots) forming. This is also known as platelet aggregation inhibition. Thrombi can become lodged in blood vessels and clog them, so that the blood can no longer adequately supply subsequent tissues with oxygen, for example.
unstable angina pectoris - heart pain due to circulatory disorders in the coronary vessels.
in case of acute myocardial infarction
to prevent another heart attack after the first heart attack (for reinfarction prophylaxis).
after operations or other interventions on arterial blood vessels (after arterial vascular surgery or interventional procedures, e.g. after aortocoronary vein bypass [ACVB], during percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty [PTCA]).
For the prevention of transient cerebral ischemia (TIA: transient ischemic attack) and cerebral infarction after precursor stages (e.g., transient paralysis of the face or arm muscles or transient loss of vision) have occurred.
ASA Dexcel protect tablets are provided with an enteric coating. Therefore, the tablets are taken approximately 30 minutes before a meal.
The dosage and length of intake is discussed with the attending physician.

The total dose should not be exceeded without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.
How to use?
Take the medicine whole with liquid (e.g. 1 glass of water).
For acute myocardial infarction: Bite the medicine and let it work in the oral cavity.
Duration of use?
The duration of use depends on the nature of the symptoms and/or the course of the disease. It should therefore be determined in consultation with your doctor. In principle, the duration of use is not limited, so the medicine can be used for longer periods.
Overdose?
A variety of overdose symptoms can occur, including dizziness, ringing in the ears, visual disturbances, confusion and breathing disorders. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor immediately.
Have you forgotten to take it?
Continue taking the medicine as normal (i.e. not double the amount) at the next prescribed time.
As a general rule: Pay particular attention to conscientious dosing, especially with infants, small children and older people. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist about any effects or precautions.
A dosage prescribed by a doctor may differ from the information on the package leaflet. As the doctor will adjust it individually, you should therefore use the medicine according to his instructions.

How does the active ingredient of the medicine work?
The active ingredient has an analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effect. It blocks the formation of certain messenger substances in the body, known as prostaglandins. These are significantly involved in the development of pain, fever and inflammation.
Blood clotting is also influenced by acetylsalicylic acid. The substance prevents the blood platelets (thrombocytes) from clumping together and thus improves the blood's ability to flow.
