NASENTROPFEN AL 0,1% can be used for rhinitis caused by colds, episodic runny nose (rhinitis vasomotorica) and allergic rhinitis (rhinitis allergica). NASENTROPFEN AL 0,1% contain the drug xylometazoline, which provides for the decongestion of the nasal mucosa, facilitates breathing through and the drainage of secretions in sinusitis and in catarrh of the middle ear in connection with rhinitis.

Use of NASENTROPFEN AL 0,1%:

Children from 6 years and adults can use the drops up to 3 times a day if necessary and for a maximum of one week.

Do not exceed the total dose without consulting your doctor or pharmacist.

How is it used?
Drip the medicine into each nostril. Clean your nose beforehand by blowing vigorously. Put your head back for application. To avoid infection, the medication should only be used by one patient at a time.

Duration of use? The medication should not be used for more than 7 days. Reapplication should only take place after a break of a few days. Regarding the duration of use in children, always ask your doctor.

Overdose? If the medication is used as described, no symptoms of overdose are known. If large quantities are accidentally swallowed, seek medical advice immediately. Nausea, fever, cramps, cardiac arrhythmia, hypertension, respiratory disturbances, drowsiness and a drop in body temperature may occur.

As a general rule: pay particular attention to conscientious dosing, especially with infants, young children and the elderly. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist for information on possible effects or precautionary measures.

Effect

How does the active ingredient of the drug act?

The active ingredient contracts the dilated veins in the mucous membrane of the nose and eyeball. This reduces excessive blood flow to the olfactory and visual organs and swells the mucosa. Patients can breathe more freely through the nose again. In addition, it no longer flows continuously. Annoying redness and non-specific irritation of the eyes disappears.

Contraindications

- Preservatives (e.g. benzalkonium chloride) can cause swelling of the nasal mucosa with prolonged use. If such a reaction is suspected (persistent nasal congestion), a nasal medicine without preservatives should be used.
- There may be drugs with which interactions occur. It is therefore necessary to inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medicines already in use before starting treatment with a new one. This also applies to medicines purchased personally, used only occasionally or used for a long time.

Überdosierung?
Wird das Arzneimittel wie beschrieben angewendet, sind keine Überdosierungserscheinungen bekannt. Bei versehentlichem Verschlucken größerer Mengen, wenden Sie sich umgehend an einen Arzt. Es kann unter anderem zu Übelkeit, Fieber, Krämpfen, Herzrhythmusstörungen, Bluthochdruck, Atemstörungen, Schläfrigkeit sowie zur Erniedrigung der Körpertemperatur kommen.

Generell gilt: Achten Sie vor allem bei Säuglingen, Kleinkindern und älteren Menschen auf eine gewissenhafte Dosierung. Im Zweifelsfalle fragen Sie Ihren Arzt oder Apotheker nach etwaigen Auswirkungen oder Vorsichtsmaßnahmen.

Außerdem läuft sie nicht mehr ständig. Am Auge verschwinden lästige Rötungen und unpezifische Reizungen.

Was sollten Sie beachten?
- Vorsicht: Patienten mit Engwinkelglaukom haben ein erhöhtes Risiko - besonderes im akuten Anfall.
- Das Arzneimittel selbst kann zu einem Gefühl der verstopften Nase führen. Versucht man wiederum dieses Gefühl mit Hilfe dieses Mittels zu beseitigen, riskiert man, die Nasenschleimhaut dauerhaft zu schädigen. Der Effekt kann bereits nach einer Anwendung von 5-7 Tagen eintreten.
- Vorsicht bei Allergie gegen Zitronensäure!
- Konservierungsstoffe (z.B. Benzalkoniumchlorid) können bei längerer Anwendung eine Schwellung der Nasenschleimhaut hervorrufen. Besteht ein Verdacht auf eine derartige Reaktion (anhaltend verstopfte Nase), sollte ein Arzneimittel zur Anwendung in der Nase ohne Konservierungsstoff verwendet werden .
- Es kann Arzneimittel geben, mit denen Wechselwirkungen auftreten. Sie sollten deswegen generell vor der Behandlung mit einem neuen Arzneimittel jedes andere, das Sie bereits anwenden, dem Arzt oder Apotheker angeben. Das gilt auch für Arzneimittel, die Sie selbst kaufen, nur gelegentlich anwenden oder deren Anwendung schon einige Zeit zurückliegt.
